I just got off the phone with a Qwest rep, through whom I ordered a Direct TV/Long distance phone/Internet bundle. I told her I was renting this home and didn't plan to stay here for two years, and I specifically did NOT want to sign up for a "commitment". She was evasive about cancellation fees, and I after reading over 100 of the 459 stories here about problems with Direct TV, I am very suspicious.

Has anyone actually sued them? Can anyone cite a legal case, either won or lost, against Direct TV?

Also, this house I rented has a Direct TV 'Slimline' dish already installed on the roof, with four wires running from it. It all looks brand new. What should I expect from DTV regarding this equipment?
